Personalisation Guide ♡

What can I print on my SPATZ items?

One of the things that makes SPATZ a little different? We don’t put you in a tiny creative box.

You’re welcome to personalise your items with names, nicknames, sentences or special wording, design permitting. There are just a few important things to know before you hit Add to Cart.

What you can usually add

✏️ Fonts & Text Appearance

Some fonts are decorative and designed to complement the artwork, not override it. Please check product images carefully before ordering.

  • Some fonts are all uppercase, lowercase or mixed case
  • Some fonts intentionally display letters differently
  • How you type the name may not always change how it appears

🎨 Design Variations

We’re always improving our designs, which means older designs may be updated, refined or retired from time to time.

  • Not all designs are available on every product
  • Selector images are for illustration purposes only
  • Final placement, scale and colour may vary slightly

🖨 Handmade printing, the good kind

All SPATZ products are manually printed at SPATZ HQ. Minor variations in placement, sizing or print colour can occur. These tiny differences are normal and part of the handmade process. It’s what makes each piece one of a kind.

📝 Extra Details

Extra text, such as birth details, must suit the product and design selected.

SPATZ may modify, partially omit or remove extra details if needed to preserve the integrity of the artwork.

🍽 Dinner Sets

  • Multiple names or extra details appear on the plate and bowl only
  • Mugs and cutlery include the first name only

This is due to size and legibility limits.

📸 Supplied photographs

Image quality

  • Recommended resolution: 200–300 DPI
  • Compressed images may print grainy
  • Low-resolution images may print blurry or distorted

Please note

We do not retouch, recolour, edit or adjust customer-supplied photos. Your image will print exactly as supplied.

➕ Matching Add-Ons

When selecting a matching add-on, the same design variant and personalisation details will be used.

Small items may only include the first name and layouts may differ slightly due to size constraints.

🔣 Symbols & Emojis

Please do not include emojis, symbols, icons or special characters in your personalisation fields.

Most fonts do not support these glyphs, so they may be omitted or prevent details from saving correctly.

🛒 Important checkout notes

Please do not include item-specific instructions, text changes or clarifications in gift message or delivery message fields.

These messages are printed onto gift cards or sent to delivery partners and are not visible during artwork preparation.

If something special is required and can’t be entered on the product page, contact us before ordering.

🚫 What we will not print

  • Licensed or copyrighted images
  • Harassing, threatening or defamatory text
  • Racist, hateful, abusive, violent or obscene content

Orders containing these will be cancelled immediately.

🎨 Design Your Own

You’re welcome to upload your own artwork or images, provided you own the rights to use them.

  • Files must be under 5MB
  • Artwork should be flattened with no hidden layers
  • You accept responsibility for uploaded content and image quality

We’re here to make fun, personalised things for kids, beautifully printed, thoughtfully designed and made with care.

Payment Information

Safe, secure payment options for your personalised SPATZ goodies.

Credit card payments

At SPATZ, credit card payments are our primary online payment method. We accept VISA and Mastercard through our secure website checkout.

For cardholder protection and PCI-DSS compliance, we do not accept credit card details by email, Facebook private message, mail or any other non-secure method.

Any complete credit card or cardholder details received outside the secure checkout will be deleted or destroyed upon discovery.

Credit card verification for fraud protection

Once your order is received and payment has been processed, our system may perform additional checks for fraud protection.

Your order may be flagged for card payment follow-up. If this happens, you may be asked to send a photo of the face of the card showing the first 4 and last 3 digits only, along with the name on the card.

The card must be the card used for the order, and the name must match the billing name on your order.

Failure or unwillingness to supply this information will result in the order being cancelled and refunded after 72 hours. Orders marked for card payment follow-up will not be started until payment is verified.

Other payment methods

If you do not wish to use a credit card, we also accept other payment methods where available at checkout.

If you choose Direct Deposit during checkout, BSB, account and payment details will be provided to you.

Orders will not be processed until payment has been received in full. EFT payments may take 1–7 business days to clear. PayPal eCheque payments can take up to 7–10 working days to clear.

Special notes regarding credit card payments

We use NAB to handle our secure payment processing. When you press the “Pay now” button, your card details are securely sent directly to NAB to be processed.

At no time do your full card details come through to the SPATZ website.

If you press the payment button more than once, refresh your page or resubmit the payment form, this may result in a duplicate transaction.

Please contact us if you believe you have paid for your order more than once. We will happily refund subsequent transactions you have initiated. Card processing fees we have incurred may be deducted from the refund amount for additional transactions.

Coupons, vouchers, codes & promotions

  • Coupons, vouchers, codes and promotions must be applied at checkout before placing an order.
  • They cannot be applied retrospectively.
  • They cannot be added after an order is placed.
  • They are date-bound and must be used within the valid promotional period.
  • Only one coupon, voucher, code or promotion can be used in a single transaction or order.

Every SPATZ order is made especially for you. We don’t do boring warehouse chaos, we do personalised goodies printed with care on the sunny Gold Coast.

Peak Periods

Please be patient during our peak seasons from mid-September through to February including Back to School, Christmas and the summer rush.

How long does it take to make my order?

Around 2 to 10 working days unless otherwise specified or you have selected our “Rush Order” service.

All SPATZ products are made to order. We don’t hold pre-printed stock. Every item is created especially for you, from artwork preparation right through to printing and finishing. This is what allows us to offer truly personalised, one-of-a-kind products.

What is a “Working Day”?

Working days are Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays and published closures.

⚠️ Important: Processing times will extend beyond these estimates during busy periods such as Back to School, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Christmas.

Orders cannot be expedited during peak periods.

Rush Orders

Rush Orders are not available year-round.

When available:

  • Orders must be placed before 12pm midday to be dispatched the next business day.
  • Rush applies to printing and processing only.
  • Express Post must be selected separately if you need faster delivery.
  • Not all products are eligible.
  • Every eligible item must have Rush Order selected.

Rush Orders are unavailable during peak seasons.

Australian Delivery

Most Australian parcels are shipped via:

Tracking and signature on delivery are available on most parcels at no extra cost. Once dispatched, you’ll receive a shipping confirmation email with tracking details.

International Shipping

Yes! We ship internationally to most countries.

  • Shipping is calculated at checkout for supported destinations.
  • Some services include tracking and/or signature, depending on selection.
  • Delivery times vary by location.
  • Import duties, taxes and charges are the responsibility of the customer.
  • Refusal to pay import charges will result in 100% cancellation fees.
  • Return postage costs may also apply.
  • We currently do not ship to Canada or the USA, sorry guys!

Tracking Your Order

Once your order is dispatched, you’ll receive tracking details by email.

Please use the tracking number provided to track your item here: http://auspost.com.au/track/ or contact Australia Post on 13 13 18 and quote your tracking number.

If you’re not home and the parcel can’t be safely left, it will be carded for collection.

You may add delivery instructions at checkout, for example “leave on front porch”.

Signature on Delivery

We do not use Australia Post SafeDrop unless requested.

If Authority to Leave is selected, responsibility transfers to the carrier once delivery is marked complete.

Insurance, Loss & Damage

SPATZ is not responsible for parcels lost or damaged in transit.

Optional postage insurance is available:

  • Domestic: $2.50 per $100 insured.
  • International: Contact us for a quote.

Insurance must be added before dispatch.

If a parcel arrives damaged:

  • Keep all packaging.
  • Claims cannot be processed without packaging inspection.

Split Shipping & Multiple Addresses

  • We do not split ship orders unless prior arrangements are made.
  • We do not ship to multiple addresses unless prior arrangements are made.
  • Any additional postage costs must be covered by the customer.

Incorrect Addresses / Returned Parcels

If a parcel is returned due to:

  • Incorrect address
  • Failure to collect
  • Undeliverable location

Re-delivery fees apply. If re-delivery is declined, a 100% cancellation fee applies.

Lost Items

If your item hasn’t arrived:

  • Contact Australia Post on 13 13 18 with your tracking number, or
  • Contact us with your order number.

Final Tip

If you’re ordering for a special date, always allow extra time, especially during peak seasons. When in doubt, order earlier. Future you will thank you.

Returns & Refunds ♡

Exchanges, Returns,
Cancellations & Refunds

Every SPATZ product is printed by hand at SPATZ HQ on the sunny Gold Coast. Tiny variations are part of the handmade magic.

Quality & handmade printing

Quality and customer happiness are super important to us. All SPATZ products are manually printed at SPATZ HQ, so please expect minor imperfections and small variations in image positioning, sizing and colour.

Order cancellations

Postage is 100% refundable only if your order has not yet been dispatched.

If your parcel has already been sent, postage costs are non-refundable. Payment processing fees may also be deducted from refunded amounts depending on the payment method used.

Non-peak periods (March to October)

Once your order has entered Processing, Queued, Printing, Packaged, Awaiting Packaging, Awaiting Response or Completed status, a 100% cancellation fee applies to the products subtotal.

Peak periods (October to March)

During peak periods, no order modifications or cancellations can be made once your order has been received into production.

Permanently laser marked items including Systema lunch boxes, Contigo items and goggles attract a 100% cancellation fee once marked as printing.

Returns & unauthorised parcels

Unauthorised returns will be refused and not accepted.

  • A valid Return Authorisation Number must be present on returned parcels.
  • Unauthorised returns delivered to SPATZ may be discarded after 14 days.
  • No refunds are issued for unauthorised returns.

Undeliverable / carrier returned parcels

If parcels are uncollected, refused, undeliverable or returned by the carrier, additional carrier and re-delivery charges will apply.

If re-delivery is declined, a 100% cancellation fee on the products subtotal applies and original postage is non-refundable.

Changes of mind

We’re happy to offer exchanges for another colour, size or style up until your item is marked Printing.

Because our products are personalised and made to order, refunds are unavailable once items have been printed. Please check all spelling and details carefully before ordering.

Decorative fonts may display characters differently, including mixed upper/lowercase styling and vintage character forms.

Quality & faulty products

If you believe there is a quality issue, we may request photographs or ask for the product to be returned for inspection.

  • Replacements are issued only for genuine manufacturing or print quality defects.
  • Wear and tear, accidental damage and misuse are not covered.
  • Issues must be reported within 7 days of receiving your order.

Customer perceived issues relating to colour, positioning, layout, shadowing or scaling are often within normal production tolerances and may not be considered defects.

The following are examples, which are NOT defects. This is not a complete list.

    • Prints are not intended to join in wrapped prints (bottles, mugs, cups, pet bowls). May be an unprinted area, may be slightly uneven.
    • Designs are not intended to join in wrapped prints (as above)
    • Dinnersets with multiple names and/or additional details will include those only on the plate and bowl. Mugs and cutlery will only include the first name.
    • Minor fold/crease marks resulting in small unprinted areas (any printed fabric)
    • Minor ‘fading’ of the print (can be a little lighter) around the stitching in printed areas (for instance edge of backpacks, lunchbags, coolerbags, toiletry bags, passport covers, etc)
    • Handles of tote bags will generally have a small amount of print at the base where they connect, which may include folds/unprinted areas. This ensures as much of the full bag face is printed and as little as possible unprinted area on the faces remain
    • Some ‘fading’ of the print on the reverse/back side of dog bowls where the print joins (opposite the name area)
    • Minor marks in items existing before print
    • Minor colour spots can occassionally occur on some lighter coloured backgrounds (appear as small colour fleck).
    • Omitted details making the designs look off-centre
    • Manufacturing join lines in melamine items
    • Logo print quality on bottom of items, wherever applicable
    • Plates may have small indentations on the underside from the printing process.
    • Melamine mugs and cups may not be perfectly circular, due to the pressures in printing process
    • Melamine items may have small inclusions from their molding at the time of manufacture.
    • Reversible fleeces – hem stitching may be sewn either side of the print.
    • Size & positioning can vary from the design simulation samples seen on-screen
    • Different types of items take colour differently, and may appear different to those seen on-screen in the simulated design chooser images, and can differ from one product to another in the same design
    • Furthermore, printed colours will appear different than those seen on-screen due to monitor/screen performance, brand, colour balance, software settings, colour calibration, screen age, etc.
    • Towels & fleeces may arrive a bit flat after print & postage, as expected. A couple of washes and they’ll be back to fluffy.
    • Personalised silicone items are laser engraved/burned to cut a relief. The simulations seen on-screen as as close to actual as possible, as seen from particular directions in controlled lighting environments. As they are controlled burned, many factors affect the cut, and will appear ‘liney’ as this is how they are burned.
    • Swimbags are water resistent. They are not waterproof. They will keep most of the moisure from a damp towel and damp swimmers in or contained in the bag/fabric. i.e. clean towel, damp from drying off a child, swimmers wrung out. Wet items will wet through the fabric.
    • Prints on Bunny/Bear/Lion (ie toy) tees are printed larger than the simulations shown so text is clearly legible
    • Prints on fleece will move with the fibres, and may not be clear/crisp as the fibres move. Rub your hand over to adjust the fibre direction and it becomes clear.
    • Items made from fleece & towel may not be square cut, and there may be up to a 10% squew. Furthermore, the printing process will squew/stretch these further in two directions and those will return to normal shape within a couple of washes
    • Items made from poly-canvas may not appear as crisp in print due to the nature of the fabric.
    • Red ‘rash’ appearance of some skin tones from customer supplied photos from low DPI and/or low resolution photos. Low resolution images may also appear blurry when sized to fit.
    • Photos supplied should be at 200-300dpi. Highly compressed photos will also contain a lot of graininess to the print.
These examples are part of normal production tolerances and handmade manufacturing processes.

Customer supplied information & photographs

We print details exactly as supplied by the customer.

We do not:

  • Correct spelling or grammatical errors
  • Correct inconsistencies between items
  • Modify date formats or units of measurement
  • Retouch, recolour or edit supplied photographs
  • Rescale low quality images
  • Modify artwork layouts beyond personalisation text

To make your design look its best we may:

  • Adjust text positioning and scaling
  • Resize names and details for legibility
  • Omit extra details where required for layout balance
  • Tone down poor quality customer supplied photos

Photos should ideally be supplied at 200–300dpi. Highly compressed or low resolution images may appear grainy, blurry or pixelated when printed.

DIY products & image uploads

  • Images must be under 5MB each.
  • Uploaded artwork must not breach copyright laws.
  • PDFs and artwork files should be flattened with no layers.
  • SPATZ reserves the right not to print inappropriate or copyrighted material.

By uploading artwork, customers accept responsibility for copyright ownership and supplied content.

Transit damage & insurance

SPATZ is not liable for items lost or damaged in transit. Registered Post and postage insurance are strongly recommended.

  • Please keep all packaging for insurance claims.
  • Claims may be rejected without packaging inspection.
  • Return postage and warranty postage are not covered.

Breakages & misuse

SPATZ does not cover breakages or defects caused by misuse, rough handling, incorrect washing, dropping or failure to follow care instructions.

Melamine care

Plastic/melamine items are dishwasher safe on the top shelf of most dishwashers. These are not suitable on high temperature washes (sanitisation, steam or heavy washes). Some brands do wash very hot, especially if they advertise sanitisation functions, and this can deform the melamine. Miele, Maytag, Bosch, Fisher & Paykel & LG all advertise sanitisation and/or steam with cycles in excess of 70C, which is not suitable for melamine. Only issues arising from manufacturing problems are covered for a period.

Product unavailability

Occasionally products may become unavailable after ordering. In these situations:

  • A refund may be issued for the unavailable item.
  • An equivalent product may be substituted.
  • Orders may be held until stock arrives.

SPATZ reserves the right to withdraw products from sale without notice and does not part-ship orders.

Tiny imperfections, soft fabric variations and handmade quirks are part of what makes your order unique.

Here at SPATZ, we do not use your personal information for any purposes other than to process your AWESOME order! Your information in used and stored in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988. SPATZ does not on sell any information to any third parties. SPATZ will not be held liable for any loss or damage caused by the "SPATZ Mini Peeps" and "The Peeps" websites or by your use thereof except wherein such liability cannot be excluded by law.

SPATZ uses SSL data encryption to protect ALL information supplied on the SPATZ website.

Product Photos & Social Media

We love to show off our products! We take lots of pics of actual order products and we post these to social media. By placing an order, you agree that SPATZ may publish photos of our designs printed onto our products with the details supplied in your order.

We don't publish photo items without express consent of the customer.
